What is the National AI Dash Camera?
The National AI Dash Camera (model TELEMATICS-AI-DSM7291) is Ajira’s own dual-lens AI telematics camera. A 1080p road-facing lens and a 720p driver-facing lens analyse events on the device, coach the driver in the cab in real time, upload only event clips over 4G, and can expand to four camera channels per vehicle.
Is the National AI Dash Camera approved in Kenya?
Yes. The National AI Dash Camera is approved by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), and complies with Communications Authority of Kenya requirements.
What does the AI camera detect?
The camera detects 16 driver and road events, including forward-collision risk, lane departure, close following, driver distraction, fatigue, mobile-phone use, not wearing a seatbelt, smoking, over-speeding and harsh braking, acceleration and cornering.
Does Ajira supply speed governors?
Yes. Ajira supplies and fits NTSA-approved digital speed governors. Owners can check a speed-governor certificate online by plate number and renew it by M-Pesa to Ajira’s Till Number 838626.

Results
What results have Ajira customers achieved?
Vivo Energy Kenya cut its accident rate by 35% and Dakawou Transport cut fuel cost by 28%, with the system paying for itself in five months. Ajira measures every pilot against the customer’s own baseline figures.
Compliance
Is telematics a legal requirement for fleets in Kenya?
Not as a blanket rule today. The 2026 NTSA regulations that would have required telematics on commercial and school vehicles were gazetted in February 2026 and annulled by the Senate on 8 September 2026 for lack of public participation, so they are not in force and are expected to be re-made. Several related obligations do already bind fleets: approved speed limiters on public service and heavier commercial vehicles, driving-hour limits under the Traffic Act, GPS tracking and journey plans for petroleum tankers under EPRA's 2025 regulations, and the Data Protection Act where cameras are used.
Is Ajira compliant with the Kenya Data Protection Act?
Yes. Ajira Telematics complies with the Data Protection Act, 2019 as both data controller and data processor. The camera uses event-only upload, access to footage is role-based and logged, and fleet operators remain the controller of their drivers’ telematics data.
Service
Who installs and supports the equipment?
Ajira’s own technicians install every device at the customer’s depot and support it in-country. Hardware carries a 12-month warranty, and an optional 24/7 Command Centre staffed by Ajira can monitor the fleet round the clock.
Can Ajira send fleet data to our ERP?
Yes. The Ajira API delivers the data types you choose — such as positions, trips, events and deliveries — to your own endpoints for systems including SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Odoo and Power BI. Integration is scoped and priced before work starts.
Which industries does Ajira serve?
Ajira serves oil, gas and energy; logistics and haulage; retail and supermarkets; food and beverage distribution; mining and construction; passenger, school and staff transport; plus pharmaceuticals, car hire and leasing, agriculture, county and government fleets, and courier and last-mile operators.
